THE state government will make an announcement on the Innoplex initiative — Penang’s centre of excellence for Science and Technology — before the year-end. Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said various parties would have to take concrete steps to finalise the Innoplex. “Things cannot be done overnight. Planning is required to get more stakeholders to come in and have more discussions and consultation. “We want this effort to be industry driven with focus on creativity, innovation and intelligence based on science and technology,” he said. “Although we are facing various challenges during discussions, we are confident that the industry players will overcome them,” he told a press conference after a meeting with the Penang Science Council at his office in Komtar on Thursday. Lim also said Penang was poised to achieve its target of attracting RM4.2bil in total investments for this year. |
