Penang expects to add 40,000 new jobs |

GEORGE TOWN: There will be 20,000 to 40,000 new jobs in Penang following the opportunities created by medical, renewable energy, electronics and tourism industries in the state.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the state government was now negotiating with three medical companies from the United States to invest in Penang, which is fast becoming a medical device manufacturing hub.
“On top of new medical investments, established player B Braun is undertaking expansion plan costing RM1.75bil to increase its output by 50%.
“This exercise is expected to create 450 to 750 jobs for B Braun,” he said.

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry expects the medical appliances and equipment industry, along with the pharmaceutical industry, to contribute RM10 billion to the country's economy over the next 10 years.

TOP Glove Corp Bhd (7113), the world's largest rubber glove maker, plans to spend RM80 million until May next year to set up three new plants and increase production lines.
