KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is ready to become the world’s premier halal hub offering a complete range of products and services.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the hub would be managed under a system based on halalan-toyyiban (“halal” and the best) requirements.
He said although there were already features in place to enable Malaysia to operate as the hub, more were still being developed and expected to be ready soon.

DOMESTIC steel usage is projected to grow at only 5 per cent to 7.5 million tonnes this year - lower than an earlier forecast of 8-10 per cent growth, an industry body said.
Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (Misif) president Chow Chong Long said Malaysia is estimated to consume 7.5 million tonnes of steel this year compared with 7.1 million tonnes last year.

Unimech looks to more revenue from Indonesia |

PENANG-BASED Unimech Group Bhd (7091) is targeting to double the revenue of its Indonesian operations in three years.

THE Penang Government has plans to turn an open area, currently used as a pedestrian walkway along Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong, into a Gold and Jewellery Bazaar.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said a Request for Proposal (RFP) would be called beginning July 1.
The proposal must be submitted by Oct 1.

GEORGE TOWN: Unimech Group Bhd is targeting for its overseas business to contribute over 30% to its revenue this year from 22% last year.
